The house of the former Gombe State Governor, Danjuma Goje, a serving senator representing Gombe Central in the National Assembly, was raided by security operatives.

It was initially reported that the operation was carried out by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, who however, swiftly denied it.

Reports however indicate that it was the Nigerian Police that launched the operation base on what seemed to be a whistleblower leak.

As at the time of going to press, the details of the operation were not made available to the public and the police has not commented on the matter.

Goje, was arraigned in 2012 before Justice Babatunde Quadri-led Federal High Court in Gombe by the anti-graft agency on charges of money laundering and other financial crimes involving over 50b Naira, and illegal award of N1bn contract for supply of dictionaries to secondary schools while he was a Governor of the state, among other charges.

Despite the several charges and accusations against the former Governor, many still considers him a hero in Gombe state politics under the national ruling party, APC.
