OIL EXPLORATION: Not crude oil, let's move to non-oil sector

BY KACH GREMA KYARI, OPINIONS | YERWA EXPRESS NEWS, JULY 28, 2017

The unexpected cancellation of the exploration of oil in Lake Chad region by the FGN as a result of the attack of the workers and Unimaid staff has come to many as a deliberate attempt to stop the activities of the oil exploration in that region particularly to the people of the North East region that to the extent several agitations are in the pipeline ready to be hatched in due course but what is really our problems?

OIL EXPLORATION IN LAKE CHAD

For the past 30 years the FGN was talking about exploration of oil in that region hitherto inconclusive not even in few years to come.

RENEWABLE ENERGY THE GLOBAL TREND

When whole world are migrating from using fossil fuel to renewal energy for the conservation of clean air in the environment among other things, when England and France will ban the sales of fuel and diesel cars in 2040, when Mazdar city in United Arab Emirate will take off as model city in the world in 2020 that 100% depends on renewal energy, a car without driver, cars using fossil fuel cannot enter the city, when many cities in Europe are using electric cars, where is the prospect of the oil we are exploring ? who is going to buy, remember the recent fall in crude oil price and the present Government drive in giving emphasis to non oil sector revenue.

MODERN AGRIC MECHANIZATION; A NON OIL SECTOR

We all knew that Nigeria itself was build by this sector before the oil boom, many perceived the oil boom as doom but the fact remains that we must go back to farm but this time around mechanize farming so that it can be much more higher in return than that of 1960s.

OUR PROBLEMS

We all know that the greatest challenges of Borno is Boko Haram, if not of BH the exploration will not be cancelled, therefore as an individuals, NGOs and Government we must come together and chart a new way of tackling the BH because is not possible to be doing things in an old fashion and to expect progress and not to pressurize Government on the cancellation of the exploration in whatever means, the pressure should be on fighting Boko haram or why up till now Boko Haram kills our people.

May Allah returns peace to our State. Ameen
