Failed suicide mission leaves four injured

At least four persons were injured evening of yesterday following a failed suicide mission in Maiduguri.

The attack which occurred at a checkpoint mounted by NDLEA personnel was targeted at a commercial motor park in Muna general area, a place already notorious for suffering repeated suicide attacks.

Failed, it left four persons injured, killing the two bombers only.

Witnesses, one of whom told this newspaper that 'it seems the target was the motor park but luckily for us, it all went amiss', also said the suicide bombers are two.

'The first person detonated her (or his) bomb targeting a vehicle carrying charcoal, injuring the other bomber and other four persons', an eyewitness said, adding that, 'the second bomber who was injured by the first one (and later died) could not detonate it'.

Police anti-bomb personnel on arrival at the scene demobilized the second bomb strapped to the injured bomber (who later died) and restored normalcy.

The injured persons were evacuated to hospital immediately for treatment.

However, there's no official statement from the police or other relevant security agencies as at the time this report is filed.
